Presented with an opportunity to join Valencia after spending the last three seasons with Manchester United, multiple sources indicate that Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez will continue at Old Trafford. Hernandez is a key figure on the Mexican national team and as he remains a fan favorite as a member of the Red Devils, Hernandez hopes that his decision to remain with Man U and first-year head coach David Moyes will give him a chance to improve his position with the first team.
"Valencia were really interested," Hernandez's agent Eduardo Hernandez told Daily Mail recently. "I had the opportunity to talk to the sporting director but Javier wants to consolidate himself in Manchester. Manchester United is his challenge. It has nothing to do with money. He wants to play and get a starting spot at United. He knows that he is in a very competitive team and that he must fight every day for his place, from the dressing room to the training field. But he is not afraid. He told me he is more motivated than ever."
Clearly pushing toward a larger role with a Manchester United club that won the 2012-2013 English Premier League title, the 25-year-old didn't base his decision on money and despite the fact that Valencia promised him a major role, Hernandez elected to remain with a club that already features players such as Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck.
"It's not a question of money, we didn't even talk about that subject, there's only one subject for Javier: he wants to play and be a starter at United," Eduardo Hernandez said. "He knows it's a very competitive club and that he has to fight to play every day, in the dressing room and on the training ground, but he's not scared, he says he's more motivated than ever."
"His outlook is the same as when he moved to English football, to triumph," Hernandez continued. "He wants to triumph in England. He knows that a starting spot comes with working hard and he has to take advantage of the opportunities that come his way, like he did with Alex Ferguson."
Joining Manchester United in 2010 after spending four seasons with Liga MX affiliate Guadalajara, Hernandez has recorded 33 goals in 77 appearances and if he is given an increased role with new coach David Moyes, expect those numbers to increase and Man U to be even more dangerous this season.
