Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been urged to "sign for Bournemouth" following his goalless performance, considered his longest scoring drought since 2009.
Man Utd failed to secure all three points in their Saturday game against Southampton. The Red Devils are currently fifth in the Premier League after 24 games, a point behind West Ham United in fourth, after their 1-1 stalemate against Southampton. Man Utd's goalscorer, Ronaldo, again struggled to produce a goal for the team -- another game with no points from the Portugal international.
Sports commentator Richard Keys has advised Ronaldo to "sign for Bournemouth" and insisted that the 37-year-old should exit if he isn't happy with the situation. "Jorge Mendes was talking to senior Manchester United executives about leaving at the end of the season. My own view of that is that he should he leave now," Keys said on beIN Sports.
"I've been of the opinion all season long that I think he's as much a part of the problem - not the whole problem - as anything and anybody else. The other night, when he went running down the tunnel at Turf Moor, having recently lectured everyone about being the leader he believes himself to be and that youngsters don't do the sorts of things he does. How does that encourage team spirit in the dressing room?"
Meanwhile, his co-host Andy Gray believed that Ronaldo is currently running out of time to play top football, to which Keys replied, "That's fine then, go and sign for Bournemouth and you'll play every week."
Ronaldo has been accused of not wanting to work hard for Man Utd. The Portuguese star scored 14 goals in 26 games since rejoining the club in the summer. According to recent reports, Ronaldo has told his close friends that he is starting to feel his age, and speculation emerged over his future at the club beyond the summer transfer.
Man Utd's young players are reportedly intimidated by the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, feeling like they have to live up to his expectations rather than trust their own. The dramatic return of the legendary Ronaldo was meant to lift everyone in Old Trafford. However, the team is experiencing what will probably be the worst season in Man Utd's Premier League history.
