Manchester United legendary striker Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly directed his agent to speak to Florentino Perez about a possible return to Real Madrid.
Ronaldo reportedly spoke to the Red Devils hierarchy about potentially ending his Man Utd "nightmare." The Portuguese footballer and his representatives are said to be "concerned at the way the club is going." The five-time Ballon d'Or winner’s frustrations have been previously seen with regards to Man Utd's place in the Premier League. However, it seems to be increasing as he is reportedly looking for a move away from Old Trafford this summer.
Ronaldo has asked his agent Jorge Mendes to hold talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez as reported by Spanish publication Nacional. The 36-year-old is claimed to be unhappy at Man Utd despite his hope to retire with the team. Ronaldo reportedly will seek to leave the club if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in 23 appearances since returning to Old Trafford from Juventus in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Man Utd is currently in fourth place with 38 points, two points ahead of seventh-placed Tottenham. The club's most recent win was their 1-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday. Despite the results being considered good, Man Utd’s performance has been weak.
The Red Devils had to undergo significant adjustments, including the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, being replaced by interim boss Ralf Rangnick. Also, rumors about unhappy players and the Man Utd dressing room feuds emerged. Recruitments and transfer possibilities have been recently part of the talk as well. The club is reportedly targeting Joao Palhinha, 26.
Man Utd halted their hunt for a new boss as Rangnick is impressing club chiefs. The German claimed five wins from eight league games, losing just one. He has also given the club a fourth-round FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough. Old Trafford chiefs believed that he prevented the team from troubling defeats.
Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2009 with the most expensive world record fee of £80 million ($107.5 million). He became the most prolific goal scorer in the club’s history having 450 scoring times in 438 appearances.
