A man has been accused of brutally strangling his wife to death for refusing to have sex with him in Bangalore, India.
The accused, Pruthvi Raj Singh, an electrician by profession and a resident of Madiwala, Bangalore, has been arrested after he allegedly suffocated his wife, Jyoti Kumari, to death for denying him sex and calling him uncivilized. After the murder, he disposed of the victim's body by dumping it in Shiradi Ghat. He then filed a police complaint claiming that his wife was missing, the Times Of India reported.
As law enforcement began investigating the disappearance, officers learned that the couple frequently squabbled with each other. The authorities' suspicions subsequently grew due to Singh's inconsistent accounts. Singh later told the police that his wife had lied before their wedding, telling him that she was just 28 years old. However, after marriage, he found out that she was actually 38.
According to Singh, once they were married, Kumari rebuffed all physical intimacy with him and refused to consummate their union. Kumari also allegedly made fun of Singh and his family and even called them uncivilized animals, Deccan Herald reported.
Frustrated, Singh allegedly asked the help of his friend Samir Kumar from Bihar and hatched a plan to kill the victim. Singh then convinced Kumari to go on a trip to Malpe in the Udupi district.
The couple and Kumar drove to Malpe on Aug. 1. However, after visiting the place, while they were returning to Bangalore, Singh and Kumar stopped the car in Shiradi Ghat and allegedly strangled her to death. After the murder, they then dumped her body in the forest.
Following the confession, officers took the suspect to the crime scene to retrace his steps. Kumari’s decomposing body was later recovered from a forested gorge.
"Singh told us that Kumari would leave home several times and later return on her own. Also, whenever she left home, her mobile phone would be switched off, he claimed. But when we checked, we found her cellphone was on earlier and only now it was switched off. We found the couple left for Udupi in a car on Aug. 3," the police said.
Meanwhile, the suspect's accomplice, Kumar, remains at large despite a manhunt launched by local authorities.
