Up and coming music star Becky G is making a splash on the rap scene with her new hit "Play It Again," where this young prodigy gives a nod to her Mexican roots.
Her first hit "Becky From the Block," which she sampled from Jennifer Lopez, caught the eye of critics and landed her on MTV's 2013 Artists to Watch list.
Becky G started her career when she covered Kanye West's song "Otis" on Sept. 15, 2011. She later released a mixtape, "@itsbeckygomez," which contained all of her songs and covers. Her starring single at the time was "Turn the Music Up."
Australian musician Cody Simpson caught on to her and featured her in his summer 2012 single "Wish U Were Here." Cher Lloyd, a British singer, followed suit in October of that same year, including Becky in her song "Oath."
The hit sold more than 140,000 copies in the U.S. and landed in the No. 73 spot on the Billboard Top 100.
She released her first single, "Problem," featuring Will.i.am. Her remix, "Problem (Monster Remix)," made it to the big screen in Hotel Transylvania.
Since then, the teen has worked with Ke$ha, Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa.
In her new song, we see Becky cruising around Inglewood with her friends in a classic car as her neighbors and comrades cheer her on as a crowd grows around her.
Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Cirkut, and Ammo co-wrote and produce this upbeat song that folks over at MTV are calling "radio ready."
MTV speculates that this young wonder is but one song away from stardom. Listen to her new track below and tell us what you think!
