The Latin Recording Academy has officially announced that the 26th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This marks the 15th time the ceremony will be held in the city, reaffirming Las Vegas's status as a central hub for Latin music's most prestigious night.

"We are proud to once again bring the passion and creativity of Latin music to Las Vegas," said Manuel Abud, CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. "The city has welcomed the Latin GRAMMYs over the years, and we look forward to another great Latin GRAMMY Week celebrating Latin music and its creators."

The announcement comes after two years away from Sin City. The 2023 edition was in the Spanish edition of Sevilla, while last year the ceremony took place in Miami.

Changes in the 2025 Latin Grammys

The three-hour telecast will be produced by TelevisaUnivision, airing across its U.S. platforms at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central), preceded by a one-hour pre-show starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central). Latin GRAMMY Week will feature a series of events throughout the city, including the Special Awards Ceremony, Leading Ladies of Entertainment, Latin GRAMMY In The Schools, Nominee Reception, Best New Artist Showcase, Person of the Year Gala, and Premiere Ceremony.

In a move reflecting the evolving landscape of Latin music, the Academy has introduced several new categories and made significant changes to existing ones for the 2025 awards.

One of the most notable additions is the creation of the "Best Music for Visual Media" category, which recognizes original music composed specifically for visual media projects such as films, television series, documentaries, and video games. To qualify, the music must feature Latin rhythms recognized by the Academy or be composed by someone of Ibero-American descent. This category aims to honor the growing contributions of Latin music creators in the visual media space.

Another significant addition is the "Best Roots Song" category, which celebrates songwriters of new, unpublished recordings that reflect the traditions and roots of various communities, cultures, or social groups, especially those of Hispanic American origin. Eligible songs must be in Spanish, Portuguese, or indigenous languages or dialects and exclude tropical music and its derivatives.

The Academy has also made several amendments to existing categories to better represent the current state of Latin music. The "Best Pop Vocal Album" category has been renamed "Best Contemporary Pop Album," and the "Best Latin Children's Album" is now "Best Children's Album." Additionally, the "Best Urban Fusion/Performance" category has been updated to "Best Urban/Urban Fusion Performance," with new eligibility criteria requiring remixes to be released within the same eligibility year and increasing the required percentage of urban elements from 51% to 60%.

The "Songwriter of the Year" category has reduced its minimum song threshold from six to four, allowing more songwriters to be recognized for their contributions. Furthermore, the "Best Long Form Music Video" category now requires a minimum duration of 12 minutes, excluding credits unless they contribute to the creative process. The "Producer of the Year" category will now be screened and voted on by a specialized committee in addition to the membership screening.

These updates reflect the Academy's commitment to evolving with the ever-changing musical landscape and to best serve its membership body of music creators and professionals. As Latin music continues to grow and diversify, the Latin GRAMMYs aim to recognize and celebrate the full spectrum of talent and creativity within the industry.

Key dates for the 2025 Latin GRAMMY Awards process include the first round of voting from July 28 to August 8, nominations announcement on September 17, and the final round of voting from October 1 to October 13.
