This weekend, Miami Beach didn't just host a horse show — it consolidated Miami's place as the world's next great luxury capital.
From April 17–19, the Global Champions Arabians Tour (GCAT), presented by Qatar Airways, brought over 120 elite Arabian horses to a custom-built beachfront arena. With the ocean shimmering as a backdrop and the soft sands serving as their stage, the majestic horses competed in a high-stakes, high-glamour event that was equal parts sport and spectacle.
But the horses were just the beginning.
The GCAT's Miami Beach debut marks a turning point for a city that's spent the past decade redefining itself. With a skyline reshaped by starchitect-designed towers and an event calendar packed with exclusive spectacles — from Formula 1 to Art Basel — Miami has become the playground of choice for billionaires, royalty, and high-net-worth families from Latin America, Europe, and the Gulf.
"We knew Miami was the place to be," said Jorge Cunha, GCAT's director of marketing. "Qatar Airways sees the city not only as a transit hub, but a cultural one. This isn't just about horses — it's about global luxury."
From Scottsdale to South Beach: Winners on the Sand
The GCAT stop in Miami Beach featured competitions in six categories, judged by an international panel of experts. Gold medal winners included:
- Tasheem PMA (Senior Stallions – Royal T Arabians, USA)
- Exxaltress (Senior Mares – Orrion Farms, USA)
- STA High Voltaj (Junior Colts – Al Wajba Stud, Qatar)
- Ibitsam Aljassimya (Junior Fillies – Al Jassimya Farm, USA)
Each prize carried not just prestige but a path to the championship finale in Doha, set for December 2025 — a destination Qatar Airways connects directly with Miami.

A Weekend of Luxury, Culture, and Celebrities
More than a thousand guests attended the event, enjoying curated experiences that included a luxury shopping village, dance performances, and cuisine from famed Miami hotspots like Carbone, Sadelle's, and ZZ's, all under the Major Food Group umbrella. The soundtrack of the weekend mixed Spanish-language hits (Including some of Bad Bunny's greatest hits) with international house music — a blend as diverse as the guests themselves.
The opening night featured a surprise acoustic set from Sting. On closing night, Flo Rida and DJ Khaled brought the house down with a Miami-style fireworks finale and 50 synchronized dancers.
Among the VIPs spotted: Jeff Bezos, his father Miguel Bezos, Marc Anthony, and a contingent of Gulf royals and Latin American business magnates.
The New Miami: Glass Towers and Gulf Jets
In the past two years, Miami has welcomed a new class of ultra-luxury real estate projects. The Bentley Residences, Aston Martin Tower, and Waldorf Astoria Miami promise multi-million-dollar residences, car elevators, and helipads. Even the Casa Tua-branded Mr. C Residences in Coconut Grove are drawing European investment.
Qatar Airways has expanded its Miami operations to match the city's growing global profile, offering increased service to Doha and beyond. The airline was not only the lead sponsor of the GCAT but also hosted elite clients and dignitaries at a beachside VIP lounge.
"It's about lifestyle, not just logistics," said an airline representative. "Miami is becoming the luxury entry point for the Americas."
All Roads Lead to Formula 1
And the momentum isn't slowing down. Just weeks from now, the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix returns to Hard Rock Stadium with three days of high-speed luxury. VIP passes sell for upwards of $30,000, with yacht-side viewing parties and branded mansions in Coconut Grove already booked out.
Add to that Art Basel, Miami Design Week, and events like the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, and it's clear: Miami isn't just riding a luxury wave — it's leading it.
A City on the World Stage
With $2.7 million in prize money, champagne-fueled after-parties, and a stunning visual display of equestrian artistry, the Global Champions Arabians Tour and Qatar Airways have helped seal Miami's status as the Riviera of the Americas.
The city is no longer emerging — it has arrived.
