Lady Gaga is set to star in her first movie since “A Star Is Born.” The singer-actress will work with renowned director Ridley Scott in the upcoming movie, where she will play notorious murderer Patrizia Reggiani.
It has been a year since Lady Gaga starred in “A Star Is Born” with Bradley Cooper. While the award-winning movie was not her first, it showcased her acting abilities best. The film featured Lady Gaga as an aspiring singer who fell in love with a seasoned musician.
Over the weekend, it was confirmed that Lady Gaga would showcase her acting prowess yet again with a movie that is based on a novel by Sara Gay Forden, titled “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.” The movie will revolve around the Gucci family fashion dynasty, the murder of Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of Gucci founder Guccio Gucci.
Directed by “Alien,” “Gladiator,” and “American Gangster” director Scott, the movie will feature Lady Gaga as Maurizio’s ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. In the book, Lady Gaga’s character was tried and convicted for arranging the murder of Maurizio in 1995.
Reggiani married Gucci in 1973 and they had two daughters together. In 1985, however, Maurizio left his family for another woman. Based on the book, Maurizio lied to Reggiani about his plan to leave them and told her that he was just going on a business trip. Since then, he never returned to his family again.
Reggiani and Gucci officially divorced in 1991. In 1995, a hitman gunned down Maurizio outside his office as he arrived at work. Two years after his murder, the authorities arrested Reggiani for orchestrating Gucci’s assassination and she was sentenced to 29 years in prison. The decision was overturned in 2016, reducing her sentence to only 18 years.
According to reports, Roberto Bentivegna will pen the script for the upcoming film. However, the production on the film will not go underway until Scott finishes his current project, “The Last Duel.” Scott will, reportedly, tackle the film alongside his wife and collaborator Giannina Scott, under their production company, Scott Free Productions.
