New high-resolution images have been revealed online for Square Enix's highly-anticipated game, "Kingdom Hearts III." The images provided gamers with a closer look at the forthcoming role-playing game; the images are the first look at what the games will look like on next-generation home consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. The hi-res images feature the games main character, Sora. As the protagonist of the game, Sora will also be joined in "Kingdom Hearts 3" by Riku, Donald Duck, Goofy, and King Mickey, as well as the inclusion of familiar and hopefully, not-so familiar Disney characters.
The game play for KH 3 will revolve around a central plot: Sora, Donald and Goofy will search for seven guardians of light and the "Key to Return Hearts" while King Mickey and Riku search for previous Keyblade wielders. Game director, Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that KH 3 will be the final chapter of the "Dark Seeker" saga meaning that fans may finally experience the final between Sora and Master Xehanort. The hi-res images have revealed even more than fans were expecting, Sora's character does in fact look more mature. Fans have been clamoring for some more mature characters, the series has progressed for so many years that it is only practical that the characters will be older, thus interacting with more mature experiences. Fans have also desired to see some more mature relationships between characters, especially Sora. It seems that Square Enix has completely disregarded, Sora and Kairi's possible romance. This would be a great offshoot form the original storyline to make the plot older. While fans revel in the Disney magic of the series they also want the next installment to be somewhat age appropriate.
With the opening of the Tokyo Game Show, fans of the seemingly long-forgotten series are waiting to see what exactly Sqaure Enix will roll out. Perhaps they will give another sneak peak of the game, similar to their initial game announcement at Sony's E3 presentation earlier this year. Fans are eagerly awaiting news, however the lack of news and game information gives more weight to the speculation that fans won't see KH 3 for at least two years. Due to Nomura serving as game director for both "Kingdom Hearts 3" and "Final Fantasy XV" it seems unlikely that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be appearing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One any earlier than 2015, and even this two-year waiting period is optimistic because one must consider that the 2014 release date of "Final Fantasy XV" has yet to be confirmed.
