The Academy Award winning star, Jodie Foster,will be honored with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Cecil B. DeMille award. It will be presented at the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony on Jan 13, 2013.

Foster, 50, who is a former child star and two-time Globes and Academy Award winning actress, is the fourth youngest recipient edging out Kirk Douglas (1968), producer Darryl F Zanuch (1954) and Walt Disney (1953).

"Jodie is a multifaceted woman that has achieved immeasurable amounts of success and will continue to do so in her career," said the press association's president, Aida Takla-O'Reilly. "Her ambition, exuberance and grace have helped pave the way for budding artists in this business. She's truly one of a kind," he added.

Foster at the age of 3, appeared as the baby in the Coppertone advertisement. She made nearly 50 films and television appearances before she went to college. Her first film was "Napoleon and Samantha" when she was just eight years old.

In 1976, she was nominated for the Academy awards for best supporting actress in Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver". She played the protagonist in "Bugsy Malone" and "Freaky Friday" the same year. She won Oscars for "The Silence of the Lambs" and "The Accused".

"Little man Tate", in 1991, marked her directorial debut. She went on to direct "Home For Holidays" and "The Beaver" starring Mel Gibson. Last year's recipient for this coveted award was American actor and director, Morgan Freeman.
