On what would have marked her 46th birthday, an annual festival called "Jenni Vive!" will take place on July 2nd honoring the life and legacy of the late Jenni Rivera. Rivera's family has announced the first annual festival to be held in Jenni's hometown Long Beach, Calif., and it's expected to happen every year in different cities of México and the United States. According to the event's official website, Rivera's daughter Chiquis Rivera and pop singer Becky G are the first two acts confirmed to sing at the festival.
Chiquis, who is currently promoting her latest single "Completamente," said she's "very happy and is going to start preparing" for her gig, reports Latin Post. Becky G is also stoked to form part of the event "because she is Jenni Rivera's fan, and she represents for us the future of pop music in English," Jenni's brother Juan Rivera stated. Juan also stated that the Rivera's plan to make this event a yearly concert for the next 10 years not only to honor "La Diva de la Banda," but to raise money for women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. In fact, the event will donate a portion of their proceeds to charity through the Jenni Rivera Love Foundation.
Though “Jenni Vive!” is planned to happen every year in different cities of México and U.S., this year the event will only occur in California. Ten thousand people are expected to show up at "Playa Larga," where the singer grew up, and where guest stars will be entertaining the audience. More performers will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
