While Manchester United continues to find ways to win in the extremely competitive Barclays Premier League, members of the media and fans who follow the team closely continue to monitor the situation regarding the future of Javier Hernandez. A superstar on the Mexican National team, 'Chicharito' remains one of the most beloved players at Old Trafford despite the fact that his playing time with the first team has been minimal. Making just one start in Premier League action this season under first year coach David Moyes, many feel Hernandez will seek a departure from Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
"I am working towards earning a spot as a starter," Hernandez said recently regarding his goal to earn regular duties with the Red Devils. "I know that my performance on the pitch will allow me to achieve that goal someday either here or elsewhere for any other club. I just need to be given more opportunities to showcase what I can do, because all of us want to be able to contribute our part so this team can win championships. Football has always been in my blood and I have always loved the sport. So all that sort of carried me towards becoming a football player. That time of my life was very complicated for me but, thank God, things turned out well."
Despite the fact that Chicharito has hinted at the possibility of exploring opportunity away from the defending Premier League champions, David Moyes doesn't feel this topic is a pressing issue at the moment since he has big plans for the Mexican goal-scorer moving forward, especially since Man U is looking to solidify itself as a true contender in both the BPL and the UEFA Champions League.
"It is not a question for now," Moyes said when asked if the club will part ways with Hernandez in January or give him an increase in playing time. "He will play a lot of games before the end of the season."
The 25-year-old has recorded 51 goals since joining Manchester United in 2010 and as the season continues, it will certainly be interesting to monitor how David Moyes plugs the former Guadalajara striker into his rotation. Currently sitting eighth in the Barclays Premier League table with 11 points in 8 matches, Manchester United hopes they're able to do enough in order to compete with tops teams including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City as they look to defend their Premier League title.
