J Balvin's new hit makes it almost impossible not to move your body to the beat. Featuring French artist Willy William, "Mi Gente" new single and music video fuse reggaeton, African, electronic and Caribbean rhythms with an explosion of vibrant colors.
The video includes various cameos, like Italian millionaire Gianluca Vacchi and Anitta. "Mi Gente" is a song that embodies a special moment in music, a new sound of a Latino culture on the rise and being embraced globally. By erasing barriers of races, colors, continents, genres or languages, we can achieve the whole world moving their head to the same beat," the singer told E! News. "We hope 'Mi Gente' can provide that beat."
In just one day the song has more than 4 million views on YouTube. At 32, J Balvin has already added four studio albums, the last one: Energía, ranked 24th among the 50 best albums of 2016 Billboard, being the only Latin album of the urban genre in the list.
In 2009 Balvin released his first single "Ella Me Cautivó" becoming his first song charted in the United States, which serves as the first single from his debut studio album Real that was released in 2009 and received a Gold certification.
In 2014, he released the fifth single "La Venganza." An expanded version of La Familia subtitled B Sides was released on September 16, 2014, that spawned the hit single "Ay Vamos," that eventually topped the charts in Colombia, Dominican Republic and the Billboard Latin Rhythm Songs.
Balvin was born in Medellín, Colombia.
