On Valentine’s Day, actor Orlando Bloom popped the question to singer Katy Perry, and she said yes. The proposal didn’t exactly go as Bloom planned, but Perry still found it “really sweet.” The couple’s friends and family are happy for the two and have even gathered to plan a surprise engagement party for them just moments after Bloom proposed. “He did so well,” Perry shared in an interview. Now that they’re engaged, how are the two planning their big day?
1. Bloom and Perry are planning for a ceremony that can meet their opposite tastes
Perry and Bloom are still figuring out how their ceremony is going to be like. The two are “starting to talk about what their wedding might look like, but they haven't made any decisions,” a source told E! News.
So far, there are not many details on the plans, but one thing is for sure: “They want to make sure they decide on something that will be perfect for them as a couple,” an E! News source shared. The couple is trying to find a balance that they’re satisfied with for their wedding as they had completely different ceremonies for their previous marriages.
“Orlando doesn't want anything big and flashy,” an insider from People said. Perry was previously married to Russell Brand in an extravagant wedding in India, where they rode elephants and had a Bollywood-themed pre-wedding party. Meanwhile, Bloom and Miranda Kerr wed in an intimate and private ceremony.
To make sure they meet in the middle ground on the wedding of their dreams, the couple will have a wedding planner to help them with their vision. The insider says that the wedding planner won’t do all the work as Perry has “some ideas of what would be cool.”
The couple will be easy to please since they would be more than happy having a wedding “where their friends and family can come together and everyone has fun,” according to E!'s source.
2. They have moved in together in preparation for their wedding
People's insider has also revealed that the couple moved in together after Bloom’s proposal. “She had been doing work to her new house for several months and it was finished right at the time they got engaged. It worked out perfectly and they are loving this time in their lives,” the insider said. Bloom, meanwhile, has listed his $8.9 million home in Los Angeles, California.
3. Perry asks Lionel Richie to sing at the wedding
In a recent episode of “Live With Kelly And Ryan,” Perry, along with American Idol co-judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, talked about her engagement. She shared that she’d love it if Richie sings at her upcoming wedding. “For free,” she jokingly added. “By the way, I don’t mind that,” Richie responded.
