Since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship came under the scrutinising eye of the media, the former “Suits” actress has faced a barrage of racist and sexist comments. Even post their announcement of getting married in 2017, the slew of negative coverage Meghan received didn’t end. From comments like "gold digger", "biracial commoner" to the "whitest black girl", the Duchess of Sussex has put up with a lot for the sake of love.

After Meghan's emotional interview with ITV, her followers began trending on twitter as an outpour of support for the Duchess began to pour in. Even several MP's penned an open letter stating their solidarity with her. Another formidable character that seems to be joining Meghan in her corner is former US First Lady and secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, as she reveals that she thinks that what Meghan is going through is “heartbreaking and wrong”.

While visiting the UK with her daughter Chelsea to promote her new book, “Book Of Gutsy Women”, Hillary said that despite all the hurdles, Meghan “has made her own way in the world.”

She said: "I feel as a mother I just want to put my arms around her. Oh my God, I want to hug her. I want to tell her to hang in there, don't let those bad guys get you down. Keep going, do what you think is right.”

Hillary shared how she finds Meghan and Harry’s relationship to be a true love story, which should be celebrated by everyone.

In the past, before his engagement to Meghan, Prince Harry had condemned the racist coverage of the actress and had a statement released on his behalf: “His girlfriend, Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comment,” the statement read.

Prince Harry also openly denounced the unwanted interest of the media in his life and the extent to which they were ready to go to find a gossip. “Some of it has been hidden from the public - the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life,” read the statement issued on the official web site of the British Royal Family.
