Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s marriage, unlike the statistics of most Hollywood marriages, just might last. Bloom sees no divorce in their cards, and Perry has long since said they're making sure they are preparing for a "lifetime of commitment." How sweet is that?
Speaking with Willie Geist on NBC’s Sunday Today, Bloom said that he has no plans to ever experience a second divorce. Once, with ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, is simply enough. This is quite telling with regard to how he views the potential of his marriage to the “Never Really Over” singer.
"It's important to me that we are aligned," Bloom told the interviewer. "I've been married and divorced and I don't want do it again... and we're both fully aware of that. She's remarkable and so I'm always so impressed with that and I'm encouraged,” he explained.
Bloom was married once for three years to Miranda Kerr. They share a child together, Flynn, now 8. They decided to get a divorce amicably and are now co-parenting their kid, who is reportedly fine with his dad marrying Perry.
Even though Bloom popped the "Will you marry me?" question in an elaborate setup, which is not usually his style, Perry allegedly enjoyed it and he's happy with that. "To be honest, she loves a theme as you can see in everything she does. She loves a big moment," the 42-year-old revealed.
Perry might love big moments, but she is learning through him to appreciate the small ones too. "I'm still trying to get her to wrestle into the small moments," he explained to Geist. "The cool thing about what we're doing, we're learning to do the small together. I think we're both fully aware that it's a mountain to climb and that that mountain won't stop, in terms of a relationship because I think that's what it is and I love to evolve and fortunately, she does too."
The singer-performer has long since shared that their marriage will be strong on commitment. In an appearance on KISS Breakfast With Tom & Daisy, she said that before officially tying the knot, they are making sure a “strong foundation for the lifetime commitment" is built. Bloom on his part also said something relatively similar, shortly after their engagement.
"We’re doing great. Being engaged is a lot of work, but we’re building a castle that we can inhabit, a metaphorical castle," he told News AU.
