“The Haunting Of Hill House” is set to return for its second run. The hit horror anthology series will return to Netflix with a new chapter, focusing on a new narrative and featuring an all-new set of characters.
On Thursday, Netflix ordered a new installment as it inked a deal with series creator Mike Flanagan and executive producer Trevor Macy. Under this multi-year overall television deal, both Flanagan and Macy will produce new TV projects exclusively for the giant streaming service.
Netflix’s collaboration with Flanagan and Macy has been running for a long time now, having spawned some of the streaming service’s most popular horror films like “Gerald’s Game,” “Hush” and “Before I Wake.” In a statement released by the two producers, Flanagan and Macy said: “They’ve enabled and supported a great deal of our work and we look forward to much more.”
Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix, is just as excited as Flanagan and Macy about this new collaboration. “Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are masterful at creating authentically frightening stories that leave audiences on the edge of their seats, but unable to look away,” she said. “We’re excited to continue our partnership with them on ‘The Haunting’ series and future projects to come,” she continued.
Titled “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” “The Haunting Of Hill House” Season 2 will follow a governess hired to look after a pair of siblings living in a manor house haunted by supernatural forces. The upcoming series will be based on “The Turn Of the Screw” by Henry James, a literary classic known for its intensely terrifying storytelling that can support Flanagan’s vision for the anthology.
Meanwhile, the first season of “The Haunting Of Hill House” revolved around the Crain family and followed the Crain siblings’ horrifying experiences growing up in a haunted house. Inspired by Shirley Jackson’s hit novel of the same name, the series was an instant hit for Netflix.
The cast of the first installment included Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, Elizabeth Reaser, Victoria Pedretti, McKenna Grace, Lulu Wilson, Paxton Singleton, Violet McGraw, Julian Hilliard and Timothy Hutton.
“The Haunting Of Bly Manor” will arrive in 2020 on Netflix.
