Back in November 2015 FX renewed "American Horror Story" for a sixth season. While there have been many speculations regarding the plot, cast, themes and characters for the sixth installment since the "Hotel" finale, "Be Our Guest," we have found some of these rumors to be accurate. Check out these five things we know about the coming sixth installment of "American Horror Story."
1. Co-creator Ryan Murphy talked about the sixth installment of "American Horror Story" revealing it will have a darker tone than "Hotel." Murphy told Entertainment Weekly, "The next thing we're crafting up is very, very different than [Hotel], not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark." Furthermore, early this year FX president John Landgraf revealed that the coming season will be "principally set in the present" with a dual timeline in "echoes of the past." He also confirmed "AHS" will premiere in fall 2016.
2. Talking to TheWrap, Finn Wittrock predicted that the sixth season of "American Horror Story" will be "a little tighter" and "more claustrophobic." Although the actor has not confirmed whether or not he will be returning to the series he did share that it may be tough due to scheduling issues.
"There’s a little film stuff happening so it might be tough schedule wise, but yeah, I definitely want to do it," Wittrock said. "I have heard it is going to be a little tighter — there were so many story lines in the last one and it was so big and epic, I have a feeling it might be a little more claustrophobic. A smaller cast."
3. In March 2016, at Paleyfest, Murphy invited Kathy Bates, Denis O'Hare, Sarah Paulson, Wittrock, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley, and Matt Bomer to return to the show for its sixth season.
4. As far as the official cast list is concerned, after her fantastic appearance in "American Horror Story: Hotel" Lady Gaga has confirmed that she will return to the sixth installment. Another confirmed cast member is Angela Bassett who revealed she will appear in Season 6 of "American Horror Story" during an interview on "Larry King Now," reported Ora.
Just this month "American Horror Story: Coven" alum Leslie Jordan announced his return to the series. And a few weeks later, Bomber confirmed his involvement in the sixth season.
5. We know Jessica Lange has wrapped up her time on the horror anthology series, according to Huffington Post. Back in May, Lange stated, in an interview with Charlie Rose, that she would not be returning for the sixth or any other future season of the series, saying, "No, I had four years with that, four seasons, and each year was a marvelous character, everything changed from one year to another which made it very interesting to me. But no, I think sometimes you come to the end of something..."
