Gotham
Gordon and Bullock investigating the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne in the pilot episode of "Gotham." Fox

The inaugural season of Fox’s new superhero series “Gotham” is well under way, and tonight episode 3 entitled “The Balloonman” premieres leading fans to believe that they will meet another one of the city’s resident villains. The official episode synopsis teases, "Detectives Gordon and Bullock track down a vigilante who is killing corrupt Gotham citizens by attaching them to weather balloons.” While crime in Gotham is rampant, most criminals don’t assist the police, but like any good “Batman” fan knows, “The Balloonman” is no average criminal. Instead the villain is a vigilante who ties his seemingly deserving victims to hundreds of balloons and sets them off into the air above the city.

Actor Ben McKenzie who portrays the young Jim Gordon, revealed that the crime in episode 3 is “big and weird and eccentric and often has a lot of dark humor in it.” All of the villains on the series have either been completely new characters for the “Gotham” universe like, Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney or come directly for the well-known world of DC Comics. However, Balloonman still remains a mystery, some fans have their ideas, mostly based off early reports from Bleeding Cool. The publication revealed that “Gotham” will feature multiple possible “Jokers,” each one seemingly connecting to a part of the crazed villains personality. "Basically, every episode in the first season will introduce a character that might be a future Joker, each emphasizing aspects of the character's iconography, a card sharp, a flower seller, a clown, or just a guy with a very big grin," reported Bleeding Cool. "All relatively unknown actors. All potentially a Joker. But only one of them being the actual Clown Prince Of Crime." This revelation has lead fans to believe that the new character of the “Balloonman” has been introduced, and he will serves as one of the many candidates to transform into the Dark Knight’s most notable nemesis.

Fans of “Gotham” can watch episode 3 “The Balloonman” live on Fox tonight, October 6, at 8 p.m. Also if you miss the all-new episode, be sure to catch up by watching the free online live stream of “The Balloonman” available on foxnow.com.
