Gina Rodriguez is one step closer to nabbing her second Golden Globe as the Puerto Rican actress is nominated once more at the award show. The 31-year-old actress received a nod for "Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical" for "Jane The Virgin." This is the same category she swept at the 2015 globes, where she delivered a moving acceptance speech.
"The Hollywood Foreign Press Association changed my life last year, like entirely,” Rodriguez said to Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t feel like I could have ever have asked for any more. So this morning, when I heard my name called, I fell to the kitchen floor and started crying.”
But instead of making headlines for her second consecutive recognition, Rodriguez makes headlines thanks to a mix-up by the Golden Globes official Twitter page. Earlier this week the nominees for the 2016 awards were announced, and Honduran-American actress America Ferrera was invited to announce names. Unfortunately, the globes mistook Ferrera for Rodriguez, tagging Gina in a tweet instead of the "Superstore" actress.
“I didn’t hear anything until recently someone sent me an article, but who cares?," Gina said to ET about the incident. “America’s lovely. She’s so beautiful and such a fantastic actress. If there’s anybody I want to get mixed up with, it’s her for sure.”
