George and Amal Clooney’s marriage has been a source of inspiration for fans all around the globe. The marriage of the award-winning actor and the international law and human rights barrister has placed them in a high-profile situation — and the stakes have never been higher. A recent tabloid report claimed that the couple is on its way to a divorce due to the dangerous situation that their children have been placed into.
In his first-ever podcast interview last month with Hollywood Reporter, George spoke of his fears about the security threats that his family faces every day. To add to his celebrity status, Amal’s push for the prosecution of ISIS two months ago has placed their children in a very delicate position.
“My wife is taking the first case against ISIS to court, so we have plenty of issues — real, proper security issues — that we have to deal with on a fairly daily basis,” George shared. “We don't really want our kids to be targets, so we have to pay attention to that.”
In relation to this, a news article by the tabloid National Enquirer reported that the security concern has caused a rift between George and Amal — further claiming that their separation seems imminent. The “Ocean’s Eleven” actor has been allegedly “keeping his head down,” fleeing with their children to their home in Sardinia, which is under 24-hour guard.
“George is livid that his wife’s hard-charging efforts for human rights have left their own children at risk,” the tabloid’s source said. “He’s living with constant anxiety … but George is taking no chances whatsoever, even if Amal can’t understand his actions.”
Gossip Cop, a website that “polices” online celebrity gossip, debunks the National Enquirer’s report of the situation. In addition to calling out the baseless allegations of the article, they also put out how contradictory the reports are to reality.
George specifically stated in the previously mentioned podcast that they “won’t hide in corners,” which is in contradiction to his alleged laying low in Sardinia. In fact, Gossip Cop has also confirmed that there is no house in Sardinia to begin with. A spokesperson for the Clooney family has stated that apart from the absence of a house on the Italian island, the reports are 100% false, and the couple will not divorce any time soon.
