As video game enthusiasts await the highly anticipated release of "FIFA 14", the 2013-2014 soccer season is officially underway with some of the best players in the world reclaiming their rightful place in the international spotlight while entertaining fans around the world. Superstars including Franck Ribery, Luka Modric, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and of course Lionel Messi continue to help their professional clubs on a daily basis while also providing support for their international clubs as World Cup qualifying for the 2014 tournament in Brazil nears completion.
Despite the fact that EA Sports' latest soccer game will not officially debut until September 27, fans of the game will be interested to know who the gaming powerhouse views as the Top 50 players in the world. Names like Messi, Ronaldo and Ribery obviously come to mind but with a slew of other international talents spanning the globe, the task of naming the Top 50 players in soccer was not easy for EA Sports but nonetheless, the roster is complete and gamers everywhere will be able to experience these talents in just over two weeks' time.
Lionel Messi, superstar scorer for Barcelona and the Argentine national team tops the list with a player rating of 94. The four-time Ballon d'Or award winner was an easy selection for the top spot since the 25-year-old continues to perform at a championship level each and every year. Portugal and Real Madrid star Ronaldo came in second with a rating of 92 while France's Franck Ribery and Monaco's Falcao both earned scores of 90. Rounding out the top 5, Barca's Andres Iniesta (89) makes the list as one of the premier players in the game.
