Dakota Johnson just let one of her most recognizable features, one that she said she is very proud of, go. Her tooth gap, well-loved by so many, is now gone and fans are just sad and frustrated.

The “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress, 29, closed the gap in her front teeth, and while she still looks as pretty as ever, people are not happy. Her tooth gap is her signature trait, after all.

In the London premiere of her new movie with actor Shia Labeouf “Peanut Butter Falcon,” the actress reportedly debuted her new incisors, smiling widely at the camera. This caught many off-guard too because the actress usually smiles tight-lipped in the past. Following this premiere, she also went to the press conference for the movie the next day and showed off her new “perfect” front teeth.

Fans took to Twitter to mourn her decision. “This is the saddest I’ve even been. RIP Dakota Johnson’s tooth gap,” one person tweeted. Although most reactions are sarcastic and funny like this one, it cannot be denied that they lamented or at least were affected by Johnson’s decision to change her appearance through this.

“Logged on to find out that Dakota Johnson, the only person who should have a gap in their teeth, got rid of hers… please Venmo me during this difficult time,” another wrote. Of course, some just want to see her happy so they defended her decision to have her tooth gap fixed.

The reaction to Dakota's decision could have garnered such a reaction from fans because she has once said that she adores her too gap. Back in 2017, she even had fun documenting all the things she could put in her tooth gap, including cherry stems and coffee stirrers for a Vanity Fair video.

For what it is worth, Dr. Victoria Veytsman, the known celebrity dentist with clientele counting Hailey Baldwin and Brandi Glanville, shared that the gap was closed through a natural method only.

“This looks like it was likely a short course of Invisalign treatment. Definitely not veneers because her original teeth look they are the same size shape and color,” Veytsman told Page Six Style. “It could have also been some minor bonding between the teeth but the shape of the teeth still look like they are the same size. So for once—it’s not veneers in Hollywood!”
