Nintendo has revealed plans for the Electronic Entertainment Expo this summer, which will revolve around the forthcoming title "The Legend of Zelda."
At 9:00 a.m. PT on June 14, Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime will be kicking off a day-long stream of Nintendo Treehouse: Live. The stream is set to feature gameplay from "The Legend of Zelda" title with special commentaries from Nintendo developers as well as some behind-the-scenes information on the game. This Treehouse event will effectively replace the company's normal E3 direct stream.
This coming "Legend of Zelda" game will be playable at the show for the first time ever, and will in fact be the only playable game at Nintendo's booth, according to IGN. The goal here is to give fans a more in-depth feel for the game so they understand what the title will be.
The new "Legend of Zelda" game for the Wii U is a departure from previous games in the series. The title will let players explore an open world environment in which they can find different ways to approach areas and new gameplay mechanics will be added.
The title will take place in a fully connected overworld, similar to the original "The Legend of Zelda" game. The overworld can be traversed on foot or on Link's horse, Epona. As GameSpot reports, the world of "Legend of Zelda" Wii U will be the largest of any Zelda game, and is as large as the Wii U console can handle.
Furthermore, the game will support data saved to the Wolf Link Amiibo, which was released in a bundle with "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD."
"The Legend of Zelda" Wii U title has been developed since 2013 and was originally announced with a 2015 release. However, the game has been delayed until 2017.
