One Direction is rapidly growing into one of the most popular music bands across the globe and while star singer Louis Tomlinson is mostly known for his vocal ability, the 21-year-old has decided to test his luck in the athletic arena.
According to Goal.com, the Doncaster Rovers recently inked the boy band star to a non-contract agreement for the 2013-2014 soccer season.

Set to wear the No. 28 jersey, the club hopes the popular singer will hit the pitch this year with the goal of raising money for the Bluebell Children's Hospice. The pop star appeared in a charity match last season for Doncaster and everyone involved with the team is happy to continue fundraising efforts.
"Louis and I organized last season's charity game, in aid Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, which was a big success with over 9,000 fans attending," club media manager Steve Uttley told Goal.com reporters. "It was natural to follow on from that and Louis wanted more involvement to raise the profile of his home town club and Bluebell Wood."
"What started out as light hearted banter on text has moved on to reality, which is a great coup for the club," Uttley continued. "Our next step is to get Louis on the pitch again in a Rovers kit."

Clearly excited about the opportunity to join the League 1 champions this season, Tomlinson is eager to help raise money while also continuing his duties as a key member of One Direction.
"This has always been a childhood dream for me," he said recently. "I feel very honored to have been asked to sign for Rovers. We often play football with the lads, any time we get. Sometimes we might be on the road and just pull over at 3 a.m. at a local service station and just have a bit of a kick around."
The singer/player and Doncaster football club aren't the only ones pleased with the recent signing.

Claire Rintoul, Chief Executive of the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospital said on the team's website that having this popular celebrity working with the great charity as they look to bring in a substantial amount of funding will only help them reach all goals.
We're absolutely thrilled and delighted that Louis has decided to continue his support for Bluebell Wood and promote what we do here.
Being a local lad it's great to see him giving back to the community and supporting our children with a shortened life expectancy.
He's visited us now on more than one occasion and met some of our children and their families who are all so excited that he is championing our cause.
Louis was shocked when he learnt that we only receive a tiny amount of statutory funding and have to raise over £3million ourselves, but it means so much to us and our children and families that he's giving his time to help us raise money and awareness.
All in all, this seems like a great move for all parties since Tomlinson will be able to promote the charity cause and his ultra-popular music group One Direction while Doncaster and the Bluebell Wood Hospital should certainly benefit with added fans and financial support.
