Donald Trump made headlines yet again for his behavior and comments. This time around, he refused to answer a question by Jorge Ramos in a press conference and proceeded to send his security to escort the respected Univision journalist out of the room. "Sit down, you weren't called. Go back to Univision," Trump said as Ramos tried to ask a question that the candidate saw as being out of turn. Trump insisted that Ramos was “out of order” when several reporters asked him about the incident later.
"You can't just stand up and scream. He's obviously a very emotional person. So I have no problem with it," Trump said later. Ramos and Trump were having an exchange on immigration when the Univision reporter said, "You cannot deport 11 million people, you cannot build a wall, you cannot deny citizenship to children in this country," before security approached him. "You cannot touch me sir, I have the right to ask a question," Ramos told security as they escorted him out.
However, it is being reported that Ramos was able to return to the room and what happened next was the best five minutes of any presidential campaign. "Good to have you back," Trump told Ramos, signaling to him to begin his question. "Here's the problem with your immigration plan: It's full of empty promises," Ramos said. He added that it would be unconstitutional to deny citizenship to “anchor babies,” those children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants. Trump of course disagreed, saying it could be done even though some people argue the 14th Amendment should be changed.
"A woman's getting ready to have a baby," Trump went on. "She crosses the border for one day, has the baby, all of a sudden for the next 80 years -- we have to take care of the child.” Ramos then went on to ask about the famous wall across the U.S.-Mexico border. “How do you build a 1,900-mile wall across the U.S. border with Mexico?” "It's very easy," Trump replied. "I'm a builder.... What's more complicated is building a building that's 95 stories tall."
At one point, Trump seemed tired of Ramos but went on to add, "I have a bigger heart than you do," to Ramos. "We're going to do [deportations] in a very humane fashion." On that matter, he also said, "Listen, we have tremendous crime. We have some very bad ones... Do you mind if I send them back to Mexico?" To which Ramos replied, "No human being is illegal, Mr. Trump." But Trump got back to him: "Well, when they cross the border, from a legal standpoint, they're illegal immigrants when they don't have their papers."
