There is a famous Spanish song called "Cuando un amigo se va" (When a friend leaves) by renown singer-songwriter Alberto Cortez. Some of the lyrics say that when a friend passes away, they leave an empty space, a fire so strong that even a whole river can not suffocate it, and that sometimes when a friend leaves, not even the arrival of other friends will ever fill their place.

That's the general feeling surrounding Cory Monteith's death. The "Glee" star was found dead in his Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel room in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday. Officials confirmed that a mix of heroin and alcohol contributed to his passing, after getting the results from the autopsy and toxicology report.

The tragic news hit Glee fans all over the world and of course, all the talented people involved in the production of the show. Many of Monteith's co-stars released statements asking for privacy in these unfortunate times, others appreciated the prayers and thoughts, but most remembered the wonders of Cory and how kindhearted, generous and positive he was.

Dianna Agron was one of them. She released a heartfelt statement to Us Weekly on Wednesday about losing a friend so suddenly and unexpectedly.

"I have never lost a friend. In this difficult time, I am leaning on all of the wonderful memories we shared with Cory, how many ways he was able to make us smile," she said. "Glee was a gift to all of us. It gave us a family in this industry."

"We really cut our teeth and grew up on this show. In playing underdogs, we learned that we had dug into the hearts of our viewers and that we could stay there," she said. "Cory is so deserving of that place in everyone's hearts. He was one of the most generous and kind people that I have ever met. He had a smart, curious mind, he was an enormous talent. He was loving to not only me but my family."

"My heart goes out to his family, to Lea, to everyone that is struggling with the loss of our friend," Agron said. "We will miss you Cory. We will always carry a piece of you with us."
