The creators of “Diablo 3,” Blizzard, have finally announced the Reaper of Souls expansion release date. After releasing the PC version of “Diablo 3” two years ago Blizzard has revealed the expansion Reaper of Souls will be released March 25. Although the game has been criticized as being too short and only made for PC Blizzard is releasing this expansion right off the heels of the console released versions of “Diablo 3.” Blizzard is hoping the expansion release will re-introduce PC players to a version of the game without the Auction House.

Blizzard is charging $39.99 for the standard version of the game and $59.99 for the Digital Deluxe edition. Blizzard recently used the same price set-up for their “Starcraft” franchise. This might be a hard sell for customers especially seeing what you get for $59.99. Players will get a single new character class, a level cap increase to 70, and a refactored loot system to compensate for the loss of the auction house. Blizzard has a lot of convincing to do if they want gamers to pick up the new expansion for “Diablo 3,” Reaper of Souls.

It is unknown how big this expansion is but since it is being treated like a whole new game there are expectations Blizzard needs to live up to. Like the original Reaper of Souls, this new expansion includes the same high quality cinematics and intense action sequences. Make sure to check out the teaser trailer for Reaper of Souls below. The expansion will release March 25 and will will be $39.99 for the standard version and $59.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. Blizzard also announced that preorders for Reaper of Souls will start being taken today.
