Danna Paola is currently portraying Elphaba in the Mexican version of "Wicked" to much lauded success. The "Agüita" hitmaker is enjoying her time playing the green witch, but is also considering proposals to return to the small-screen. Paola had already nabbed a role in the primetime telenovela "Hasta El Fin Del Mundo" as the youngest Ripoll sister where she would've joined the likes of Marjorie de Sousa and Pedro Fernández. During contract negotiations, talks fell through and she opted to not participate in the Televisa production and focus on the musical. This led to speculation that Danna was banned from Televisa and couldn't appear on any talk show or any show on the network could mention her name. It seems that everything has cooled down now and producers are seeking her to star in their next melodrama and Danna Paola is open to hear any good offers.
Danna's last appearance in a telenovela was in the Luis de Llano production, "Atrévete a Soñar" about a young girl that didn't fit in. It is this same producer that is now looking for her to bring her back to the small screen in a remake of the Abel Santa Cruz original, "La Picara Soñadora." "There are various projects that we are considering and I would really like to return to television," the actress said. "I have received various television proposals, but we need to know what is the best. I have received the invitation [from De Llano] and I would love to work with Luis again, my last telenovela was with him, it would marvelous." What would it take for her to return? "As long as it's a project that grabs my attention and helps me grow," she added.
"La Picara Soñadora" is mostly remembered by the version produced in 1991 that starred Mariana Levy and Eduardo Palomo. Levy worked at a toy store in one of the most important department stores in the country. She and her family struggled to make ends meet and lived on the terrace of the department store. She soon falls in love with a young man that she thinks is there to apply for a job, not knowing that he is the son of the owner of the Sares Rochild empire. Televisa further remade this story into a children's telenovela with the name "Sueños y Caramelos" in 2005, with the result not being as successful as the original starring Alessandra Rosaldo. Take a look at the original intro for "La Picara Soñadora" down below and tell us if Danna Paola is the right choice!
