Danna Paola is a name that might sound familiar to you. It’s because this young actress and singer is making her way in the Mexican entertainment business, and very soon, she’s crossing over to this side of the border. She began her career at age 4, in the Mexican version of “Sesame Street” and ever since, she hasn’t stop.
She went on to star in several telenovelas, record a few albums and after more than 10 years doing TV, she seamlessly transitioned to musical theater landing the role of Elphaba in the Mexican adaptation of the musical “Wicked.” The show has been extremely successful, but Danna has continued to audition beyond Mexico, nabbing the lead role over Selena Gomez in the remake of The Bodyguard, named “Saving Sara Cruz.”
It’s been said that after landing the lead on “Saving Sara Cruz,” Danna Paola has been a target for major companies. Since she doesn’t have a contract with Televisa anymore, she’s “up for grabs” and rumor has it Disney has its eyes on her and they really want to make her into the next big star.
So now that she’s going to Hollywood to taste the waters and try her luck, she also wants an even bigger change in her career. According to the radio show Fórmula Espectacular, Danna Paola is considering firing her dad as her manager. Juan José Rivera has been managing the 18-year-old performer’s career ever since her big break, but apparently he’s become very strict in terms of schedule and her free time and pushes her too hard when she has bad performance nights.
Flor Rubio, the show’s hostess claimed there were a lot of rumors pointing out that Danna Paola’s relationship with her parents was getting worse, but just a few weeks ago, the singer had said that her relationship with her parents was good and that they were always by her side at the “Wicked” shows. A source closed to Danna Paola said that she’s still not sure on what to do, and although she really wants to become more independent, she’s still not sure if she should do it now.
