Manchester United forward legend Cristiano Ronaldo's £1.7 million ($2.1 million) 900 horsepower Bugatti Veyron has been involved in a crash in Majorca on Monday.
The lavish car was taken away in a blue tarpaulin. The police traffic service are investigating the sudden smash. Local police under Bunyola Town Hall, Civil Guard officers also responded to the scene.
Ronaldo was reportedly not in the driver but one of his bodyguard's was driving. The driver allegedly lost control and glided into a wall in the residential estate of Sa Coma, Bunyola, Palma de Majorca, where the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is currently spending the holiday with his family.
The car crashed into a country house door and a butane bottle booth around 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The front of the million-dollar supercar is said to have been wrecked. Investigators confirmed no other vehicle was involved. The driver of the car did not suffer any injuries and is believed to have signed an accident report.
According to a source, "The car smashed into a wall but there was only material damage with no-one injured and the driver accepted full responsibility for what happened. The information about who was behind the wheel and what occurred is registered on a police database and is there for a court or officers to access if any further investigations need to be conducted."
"But it is more a case of the information needing to be registered so the owner of the property that was damaged can put in a compensation claim and use the police report as a back-up in case there is any dispute down the line about how the damage was done."
Another insider added," The accident happened on a minor road near Joan March Hospital. The car appears to have come off the road and has hit a wall which forms part of the protection to a house with a gas canister deposit behind it. An employee of Cristiano's was apparently driving at the time and not Cristiano. He was definitely not at the scene when officers arrived."
Ronaldo traveled to Majorca with his five children and long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez on June 14. They are reportedly staying in a luxury home at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains, making the most of their time out on the footballer's yacht. The villa has its own gym, pool surrounded by palm trees, multiple jacuzzis, a beach volleyball court and a mini-football pitch. Also, it has its own chapel and a rumored "erotic room" underneath.
Ronaldo and his family also chose Majorca for their summer holiday in 2021, just before the striker confirmed he was returning to Man Utd.
