Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly spent huge money on a watch that matches his Bugatti Chiron car.
The "jeweller to the stars" and founder of Jacob & Co, Jacob Arabo revealed to have worked with Ronaldo on a watch designed to match with the footballer's personalized Bugatti Chiron hypercar. It is a three-way collaboration of gargantuan proportions, believed to be likely one of the most expensive watches of 2022.
The Portuguese star made his professional debut in 2003 and with a great career and high-value skills, no doubt Ronaldo could afford lavish watches. He has played for some of the world's biggest clubs, including Man Utd, Real Madrid and Juventus.
The one-of-a-kind watch is seemingly a variant of Jacob & Co's Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Baguette model, which retails for over $1 million. The burly piece is covered with 232 white baguette diamonds and 109 black sapphires for a total of 21 carats of gemstones. It measured up at 55mm width and 20mm length. The sapphire crystal case displays the watch's complex tourbillon movement in full. It also features a representation of Bugatti's signature grille design.
The brand posted pictures of Ronaldo with his personalized watch. They wrote on Instagram, "Jacob Arabo & Cristiano Ronaldo worked together to design a piece unique Bugatti Chiron timepiece from @jacobandco. The watch details are inspired to match the exterior and interior of @cristiano Bugatti Chiron CR7 car."
"This unique piece is covered with 232 white baguette diamonds and 109 black sapphires, totalling 21 ct. of gemstones. It also features the logo of @cristiano's company: CR7."
The watch has a quite an unusual and eye-catching design like many Jacob & Co's pieces, with a miniature replica of the Bugatti Chiron's W16 engine crafted from sapphire crystal. As you push the right-hand crown of the watch, the "engine" magnificently comes to life – the crankshaft turns, the 16 pistons pump up and down and two "turbochargers" on the side of the engine block spin.
Ronaldo is known to have a lot of Jacob & Co pieces, not to mention his Hublots, Richard Milles and Rolexes. Many of them are diamond-encrusted and one-offs, like his $1.5 million Franck Muller Cintree Tourbillon. The Man United top goalscorer is a known collector of cars and watches.
