A couple has reportedly died in a boat collision in Lake Garda, Italy over the weekend. Greta Nedrotti was found lifeless when pulled from the water after her partner, Umberto Garzarella, 37, was discovered aboard a small boat.
After Umberto was discovered next to women's clothing, a search team was charged with finding Greta, according to local Italian media. It was late afternoon when they found Greta’s body at about a hundred meters deep.
According to a few locals, one of the woman's legs had been partially severed and that the man had had a serious stomach injury.
Brescia authorities requested an autopsy on the bodies of the victims.
A couple of German tourists are being investigated for homicide for the tragic incident that occurred between Saturday and Sunday. The men were discovered after travelers realized their moored watercraft was damaged, according to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
The men were spotted eating and drinking at a restaurant in Sal, the biggest city on the west coast of Lake Garda, according to locals. The vacationers from Munich informed detectives they didn't detect anything since it was dark.
Authorities speculate that the tourists were sailing at high speed. One of the men was also hurt during the accident, with bruises all over his body.
The tourists were given blood tests to see if they had consumed alcohol prior to the event. The tourists were not arrested, but are not permitted to leave Italy or return to Germany while the investigation continues.
The probe is being conducted by the Italian Carabinieri paramilitary police, but no additional information has been released.
