A couple in North Shields, England, was found guilty of attempted murder in a court trial that took jurors only half an hour to pass their decision. The Newcastle Crown Court convicted 41-year-old Jon Hamblin and Jessica Whinham, 20 for the “monstrous” attack they had unleashed on Paul Binks on Sept. 11, 2021.
According to Chronicle Live, the court heard how the 35-year-old victim woke up on the floor of Whinham’s flat in North Shields feeling weak, confused, and in a dream-like state. He recalled Hamblin telling him, “You’ve been f****** stabbed, I’ve cut your f****** heart out, you are going to die.”
Looking down on his body, he pulled up his top to find himself covered in blood with a tube and his intestine hanging out. “I remember him trying to go for my throat and I put my hand up. He was standing over me with a knife, I couldn’t understand. I thought I was dreaming. I started thinking I’m badly injured here. I was bleeding profusely,” he narrated.
At the same time, Whinham was mopping up the blood, while Binks tried to make sense of what was going on and saw the woman chucking a bit of flesh from the floor into a bucket thinking it was his liver.
“Jess said ‘we’ve got your heart out, it’s in the bucket’,” Binks recalled.
Binks said he remembered Hamblin going for his throat and standing over him with a knife as tried to slash him again. Hamblin also looped a phone charger around his neck and tightened it with his foot on his back then dragged him into the bathtub where he was told he was going to drown and die a peaceful death.
The mortifying scene continued while Binks kept begging the couple to spare his life. The attack allegedly stemmed from a shared rumor about porn model Whinham being a “grass”, of which he had told Hamblin as a fair warning to be careful of her having known the couple for only two weeks before the attack while he was spending days with them drinking and taking drugs. After some time had passed torturing Binks, the couple allowed him to leave making him promise not to tell anyone.
Binks sought help from a nearby home in the early hours of the morning where a couple had called for paramedics. Binks sustained seven separate knife wounds, with one that had pierced his liver. He suffered cuts to his ear, his chest, back, and arm as well as a compression injury to his neck. He had no pulse while being airlifted by the ambulance on the way to the hospital
Meanwhile, the sadistic couple was remanded in custody and have been informed by authorities that they could face substantial jail sentences once pre-sentence reports have been submitted.
