A 39-year-old man has turned himself over to authorities after allegedly stabbing a co-worker’s son who was trying to protect her mother from a reported rape attempt in Philadelphia.

The suspect was identified as Hengjian Ni. He turned himself over to the police hours after the said incident that happened on Mar. 6.

Police responded to a 911 call of a person with a weapon just after 2:00 p.m. on that day.

When they arrived, they found an Asian woman with multiple stab wounds in her body. They also found a second victim, said to be the woman’s son.

The 15-year-old suffered two stab wounds to the back of his head.

A third victim, a 10-year-old boy was also stabbed in the head as well as his left leg.

According to a neighbor in a report from NBC 10, she helped one of the boys who went running down the street wearing a covered hood.

“She said, ‘Help me. Help me.’ She came struggling down the steps,” the unnamed neighbor said. “I told her, ‘I called the ambulance. Hold on, stay there.’ She was like, ‘My sons. My sons.’ I was like, ‘I have them. I have them. They’re safe.'”

The female victim is reportedly in critical condition as of this writing and is at the Frankford-Torresdale Hospital. The two boys are both in stable condition at the same hospital.

Ni was positively identified by the suspects when he was brought to the hospital. He is charged with three counts of simple assault, three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, three counts of attempted murder, attempted rape, possessing instruments of crime and burglary.

The motive behind the incident has yet to be known. Both Ni and the woman were co-workers the report added.
