There is no doubt that one of the top female fighters in the mixed martial arts world today is Kayla Harrison. Hence, it comes as no surprise that the Professional Fighters League (PFL) inked the 31-year-old to a new multi-year deal ensuring that the most sought-after fighter will remain with them.
Harrison will reportedly return to the PFL SmartCage on a multi-year agreement. She boasts of a perfect record in the PFL and has won two titles and million-dollar purses.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist is regarded as one of the most coveted athletes, linked to several promotions in the past months.
Hence, she will continue to try and show everyone her dominance when she steps into the SmartCage for the 2022 Regular Season, facing adversaries in what looms as the most decorated Women’s Lightweight division in PFL history. That includes the likes of former world champion Julia Budd.
“It is a privilege to announce the PFL has signed the most dominant MMA fighter in the world, Kayla Harrison, to a new multi-year agreement,” PFL CEO Peter Murray said in an official release. “I am also excited to announce the PFL is launching a new Pay-Per-View Super Fight Division where star MMA fighters will compete on a global stage against the best fighters in the sport. Two-time PFL Champion, Kayla Harrison, will be fighting in the PFL’s 2022 Season starting this April on ESPN networks and will also continue to build her legacy as a main event in the PFL’s PPV Super Fight Division.”
For now, there remains no word on who Harrison will face as her first opponent in 2022. The PFL is expected to announce that in the coming weeks, together with the entire PFL regular-season schedule.
Harrison is set to compete in PFL 2022 starting Apr. 20 that will be aired on ESPN networks and simulcast over ESPN+ in the US. It is also available in 160 countries on premium sports platforms.
