A controversial incident involving food meant for Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister has led to a police investigation, with accusations of "anti-government" actions and political fallout after a snack mistake.

On October 21, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu attended a function at the CID Headquarters to inaugurate a new Cyber Wing.

Special snacks, including samosas, were ordered for the Minister, but due to some miscommunication among police officers, the food was mistakenly served to other staff instead.

Five police officers, including a female inspector, have been issued show-cause notices after they gave the samosas meant for the Chief Minister to the wrong group. An investigation was launched, highlighting that the mistake was due to a lack of coordination, India Today reported.

The incident has been branded as an "anti-government" act by senior officials, and the opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has used it to criticize the Congress government for focusing on trivial matters.

"The government is not concerned about the development of the state and its only concern seems to be the Chief Minister's samosa," Randhir Sharma, a BJP spokesperson, said.

The investigation is ongoing, with disciplinary action likely to follow.

"This incident has become a topic of discussion in the political circles of Himachal Pradesh. In fact, the government machinery is embarrassed due to such coordination problems in a programme related to a VVIP like the Chief Minister", Sharma said.
