"We knew we wanted the AIDS epidemic to be something that would touch him," executive producer Amy B. Harris told TVGuide. "He's not someone who is comfortable being at a gay club where people are in leather, because he's still Walt. Even though he's gay, he's a little bit of a WASP. That was the struggle we wanted to play with this season for him with being comfortable with what kind of gay man he wanted to be and once he was finding comfort in that, that felt like the right time to talk about AIDS and what that was going to be mean for someone like Walt."
Previously on "The Carrie Diaries" the episodes found Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) delighted when she got the chance to interview the CEO of Bongo Jeans – but the pressure was on when Larissa (Freema Agyeman) told Carrie that this is her last chance to land a piece in Interview magazine. Mouse (Ellen Wong) received news that she was accepted into Harvard which drove an unexpected wedge between her and West (RJ Brown), and Sebastian’s (Austin Butler) father (Terry Serpico) delivers other news that could forever change Sebastian and Carrie’s relationship. When Walt (Brendan Dooling) gets kicked out of his parents him after they find out he's gay, Carrie takes him in and finds a surprising father figure in Tom (Matt Letscher). Meanwhile Maggie (Katie Findlay) tries to muster the courage to tell her dad the truth about the last few months.
