Mexican boxing star Saul "Canelo" Álvarez and Kazakhstani professional boxer Gennady "GGG" Golovkin will present their next match on September 16 in Las Vegas T-Mobile Arena. Golovkin Vs. Alvarez is one of the most eagerly awaited boxing match-ups and will decide the world's best middleweight.
"It's going to be a tough fight. I'm sure I'll win, but that does not mean it will be an easy fight. It's going to be a very tough, very tough fight," Alvarez said. "But I will show in the first fight that there is no reason to have a second or third." Alvarez, 26, has won world titles in two weight divisions, and Golovkin has made 18 consecutive world middleweight title defences.
“Every fight is different,” said Golovkin at the press conference. “Everybody has a chance. This is boxing. I’m a regular guy. I’m not superman. Everybody has a chance,” said Golovkin. When the reporter asked what assets Canelo brings to the table, Golovkin said, “Everything; power, speed, timing, distance, boxing IQ, everything. He has a good team, and a good promoter. He looks good, he’s tough.”
“He’s got a lot of experience, amateur career, and as a pro as well,” said Canelo about Golovkin. “He’s a fighter with a lot of experience. He’s also very strong. He’s a big puncher. He can take a good punch as well. So I have to be careful with everything when facing him. He’s very good all around,” he added.
"GGG" invited all boxing fans to witness the much-anticipated fight and made reference to the very mediatic fight that will star Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. "That's not a fight, it's a business," said WBC Median champion. "I think people understand. Do you want a real fight, a boxing match? That's mine with 'Canelo.' Or a great show, maybe a fun show, a circus show? Conor is not a boxer. If you want to see a show, go to them. If you want to see boxing, look at ours."
Golden Boy Promoter Oscar De La Hoya agreed with two of the greatest boxers in the world. "Canelo vs. Golovkin is the only fight 100 per cent guaranteed to deliver a tremendous fight."
Golovkin and Canelo battle for WBC, WBA, IBF and IBO middleweight supremacy, and it will be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View.
