Christian 'Chucho' Benítez was one of the premier scorers in the Mexican Soccer League from 2007 through the 2013 Liga MX Clausura Final.
Growing into an international figure as well, the 27-year-old seemed to have nothing but great things ahead of him even with the striker departing the Mexican League to join El Jaish of the Qatar Stars League.
Unfortunately, the four-time Liga MX Golden Boot recipient never got a chance to experience great success with his new club. Playing in only 1 match with El Jaish, Benitez died from cardiac arrest on July 29, 2013.

Leaving behind his wife Liseth and their two children, Benítez was honored by numerous fans and loved ones last week at a memorial service held in Mexico City.
While all in attendance were surely grateful for the chance to say their final goodbyes, the day was filled with obvious sadness because Benitez had never previously complained of health concerns, leaving all who knew him stunned at his passing.
"I don't think it was anything else, apart from heart attack, and a heart attack could happen any time, to a healthy or unhealthy person," El Jaish vice chairman Nasser Mohamad al-Ali said regarding Chucho's passing. "And we know that he was a very healthy person, he is a strong player, and this is just a heart attack."

Spending five total seasons as a Liga MX player, Benítez helped lead multiple teams to championships.

The 27-year-old guided Santos Laguna to the 2008 Clausura title and most recently helped Club America bring home the 2013 Clausura championship.
Notching 24 goals in 58 appearances with the Ecuadorian national team as well, Christian Benitez could do it on all levels and he will surely be missed across the wide world of soccer.
