Avengers: Age of Ultron
Joss Whedon reveals no after-credit scene for Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Marvel Studios

Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" director Joss Whedon has revealed that the highly anticipated film will not feature an after-credit scene! This is shocking news seeing that the last Avengers movie had two.

If you recall the first after credit scene featured a brief look at Thanos, who also had an appearance in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," and will be the main big bad in "The Avengers: Infinity War 1 & 2." The second scene was a fan-favorite and showed the superhero team enjoying some shawarma. We see all the Avengers sitting at a table with debris scattered around them, eating shawarma. In a recent interview Whedon says "The evolution of the shawarma scene is one of the most fascinating things in my career."

In the latest interview with Entertainment Weekly, Whedon talks about an after-credits scene, saying, “We all came at it separately—we don’t want to chase that [shawarma scene]. That was a jewel and a weird little quirk.”

Whedon says they did however try to come up with something that could top the shawarma scene, but the director says, "It didn’t seem to lend itself in the same way, and we wanted to be true to what felt right. The first rule of making a sequel is take the best moments and do something else. Don’t do the Indiana Jones gun trick again differently. Just go somewhere else. Don’t try to hit the same highs, because people will sense it.”

Fret not fans, you will see something! Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says, “There will be a tag,” meaning that there will be a short scene that pops up shortly after the credits start but does confirm what Whedon said and reveals there is no post credit scene.

Whedon does reaffirm this saying, “There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake-out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!’”

The after-credit scene will surely give us a glimpse at Marvel's future films and who knows Feige and Whedon could just be saying this to keep the actual post credit scene under wraps. We will only know for sure when the film arrives.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will arrive in theaters May 1.
