Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have been officially divorced after nine years of marriage. The couple announced their separation in April 2018, and they insisted that they parted ways amicably.
“We’re living in an incredible moment in time, but it’s also a time where truth can easily get distorted into ‘alternative facts,’” the two said in a joint statement via Entertainment Weekly. “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”
They added that they fell deeply in love many years ago and had an amazing journey as husband and wife and parents to their daughter. They claimed that nothing has changed about how much they love each other but that love has taken them to different paths now.
It has been over a year since they called it quits. But has the ex-couple maintained their friendship until now?
In January, Channing filed for an official custody schedule for their five-year-old daughter, Everly. The following month, Jenna was quoted as saying that their custody case has been challenging and emotional. As per US Weekly, the actor filed for joint custody arrangement for their daughter as he wants to spend time with her as much as possible.
It was also mentioned that Channing specified in the custody terms that they would rent a home so they can give Everly her own room that they can decorate in a fairytale theme. In this way, their daughter will feel comfortable even if the three of them are not living together anymore.
With the hurdles and tension that this custody talks have brought, it was revealed that the ex-couple has managed to work things out and remained friends till now. Both of them have moved on with their new relationships, and they don’t harbor ill feelings toward each other. Jenna is now dating actor-singer Steve Kazee, and Channing is looking happy with “Flashlight” singer Jessie J.
Although it’s not easy to co-parent when they’re both busy and already dating someone else, Channing and Jenna are doing a great job. In fact, they still get together as a family for the sake of their daughter.
