An Atlanta security guard was arrested for allegedly killing an elderly man at a senior citizen housing facility, stabbing him over 50 times.
65-year-old Janet Denise Williams worked as a guard at a Buckhead apartment complex which accommodates elderly and disabled residents. Police responded to an emergency call from the Marian Road Highrise complex on Sept. 25. The caller turned out to be the caretaker of resident Chun Ki Kim, who was found deceased in his apartment with multiple stab wounds to his torso and face.
Williams has been arrested on a murder charge and taken into custody, according to a warrant obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday.
The warrant stated that Williams was seen traveling to the fifth floor around 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 24 through surveillance footage. 6 minutes later, she got back on the elevator, looking increasingly disheveled with a rip and a dark red stain on her pant leg.
"The red Xfinity bag she was carrying also appeared to be fuller as if something had been placed inside during that time," stated the warrant. "Williams got off the elevator with a noticeable limp."
Following the murder, Williams allegedly stood by and observed as law enforcement investigated the scene, asked them questions and entered a fifth floor apartment near the crime scene belonging to another resident that had a doorbell camera. Earlier this month, Williams distributed letters to other residents at the complex about the "incident on site", urging them to contact law enforcement if they had any information concerning Kim's death. She was allegedly told to do so by property managers.
Another resident of the complex, Monica Johnson, said William's distribution of the letters was "sick".
"While it was still unclear what her intentions initially were, Williams stabbed Mr. Kim to death," said the warrant.
Williams is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4.
