Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are both relieved with the recent progress of their legal battle. They have also decided to put their differences aside for the sake of their children.
A source recently told E! News that the former couple agreed to do whatever they can to raise their kids in the healthiest environment. Even though Jolie and Pitt still don’t see eye to eye on everything, they have managed to find ways to compromise.
In order to help them compromise, Jolie and Pitt welcomed the impartial guidance of a third party into their tenuous relationship. “They continue to go to therapy weekly and having a third party watch them interact and provide feedback had been helpful,” a source said. “They both understand that for the kids’ sake they need to be able to come to agreements,” the source added.
Pitt, in particular, wants to make sure that he won’t be completely shut out from his kids’ lives. This is one of his motivations in trying to work closely with Jolie. During a previous interview with GQ, the award-winning actor already said that he and Jolie are doing their best because one lawyer told them that no one really wins in court.
“And it seems to be true, you spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you’re right and why they’re wrong, and it’s just an investment in vitriolic hatred,” Pitt said. “I just refuse … And fortunately, my partner in this agrees,” he added.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, and she initially requested for the sole custody of their six children. Last year, the ex-couple struck a custody agreement regarding their children. One week after reaching their agreement, Jolie’s attorney, Samantha Bley DeJean, told E! News that her client is relieved with the progress for the health of their family.
Pitt, on the other hand, wasn’t quite as pleased. A source said in November 2018 that even though progress has been made, this hasn’t been an ideal situation for the actor. The arrangement that has been put in place is not a permanent agreement, and it’s still a long way for him and Jolie.
