Ang Lee In-N-Out: "Life of Pi" director chows down on a burger while clutching his Oscar for Best Director.
We imagine the post-Oscar parties attended by Academy Award winners and members as classy affairs with flowing champaign and bottomless caviar, but this candid Ang Lee In-N-Out Burger photo paints a drastically different picture.
According to the Christian Post, the Ang Lee In-N-Out Burger session isn't a rare occurrence. The West Coast-based fast food chain is reportedly one of the director's "favorite burger joints, according to the Christian Post.
When the Ang Lee In-N-Out photo was taken, the director was reportedly exhausted from posing for thousands of photos and responding to questions from the Hollywood press.
""I'm a little tired. Holding this (Oscar statue) and taking photos for hours ... The whole place seems to be very happy when I win. And they stood up and there were cheers. So that was very touching, you know?" said Ang Lee. In-N-Out definitely didn't mind the promotion though.
The Taiwanese-American director, who broke on to the Hollywood scene with his fairy tale karate epic "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" in 2000, won his first Oscar for 2005's "Broke Back Mountain." Last night he was back on stage to accept his second Academy Award, but the real story was a Instagrammed Ang Lee In-N-Out photo of the two-time Oscar winner enjoying a post-victory burger.
The Ang Lee In-N-Out photo was taken by Vanity Fair publisher Edward Menicheschi outside the magazine's Oscar party. Here's the original Tweet:
And here's Vanity Fair's humorous blurb on the Ang Lee In-N-Out photo, written by Alyssa Bereznak:
As our Oscar party at the Sunset Tower Hotel wound down last night, V.F.'s publisher, Edward Menicheschi, Instagrammed this photo of Ang Lee-who won the directing Oscar for his adaptation of best-selling novel Life of Pi-mid-burger munch, a moment so candid that it may only be rivaled by Jennifer Lawrence's lovable award-acceptance fall. Take away the black-tie, and he could very well be six, holding a toy soldier. Earlier in the evening, Lee thanked "the movie gods" for his second Academy Award (his first was for Brokeback Mountain), as well as his wife, Jane Lin, who made the best-ever reaction face to his mention of their looming 30th wedding anniversary.
Vanity Fair posted the Ang Lee In-N-Out photo earlier today along with a slightly confusing description, "Animal style?" The hysterical picture quickly went viral online.
