Mexican actress and singer Anahí and media giant TelevisaUnivision have resolved their differences following the controversy over alleged fraud during the sixth season of the popular TV show '¿Quién Es La Máscara?.'
In recent days, speculation ran high without any definitive answers, but all doubts have been cleared.
Magazine TV y Novelas ignited the situation, reporting that Anahí, along with well-known publicist Danna Vázquez, had allegedly accessed the list of celebrities who were behind the characters in the recently concluded season.
Both women issued statements on social media denying the accusations. While Anahí sought to defend her reputation, Vázquez explicitly denied representing the singer.
Making peace
Many thought the matter might escalate into legal action, but events took an unexpected turn.
After the first reports surfaced, Anahí took to social media to criticize the company, calling it "unjust" for shifting blame onto her instead of addressing a significant breach in confidentiality protocols.
"I never had access to the list, nor did I know who might have had it, and I certainly didn't want to see it when it was published," she stated.
She further clarified that her role on the show was as an investigator, trying to guess which celebrities were behind the masks. While she correctly identified several participants, she emphasized that guessing correctly was irrelevant to her participation in the show.
Hours later, the former RBD member released another statement, revealing that she had reached out to TelevisaUnivision to clarify any misunderstandings and safeguard her reputation and four-decade-long artistic career.
"I also want to inform you that I currently do not have a representative. I collaborate with various people in the industry without exclusivity. Danna Vázquez and her agency will not represent me in any capacity for future projects," she added.
Around the same time, TelevisaUnivision issued a formal statement addressing the situation.
The company admitted to launching an internal investigation into a confidentiality breach related to the sixth season of '¿Quién Es La Máscara?.' As a result, they terminated the employment of a community manager linked to the leak and announced ongoing legal actions against this individual and others involved.
Regarding Anahí, TelevisaUnivision acknowledged her professional track record and confirmed there would be no legal action against her, contrary to previous speculation. However, they highlighted inappropriate actions by individuals within her circle.
"We recognize her professional conduct throughout her artistic career, which contributed to the success of the show. We want to make it clear that there will be no legal proceedings or lawsuits against her in any jurisdiction," the company concluded.
