Prime Video has unveiled the star-studded cast for its new adaptation of 'The House of the Spirits,' the 1982 novel by Chilean author Isabel Allende. Former RBD member Alfonso "Poncho" Herrera and Nicole Wallace, stars of 'Culpa Mia' and 'Culpa Tuya,' lead the cast.

Poncho plays Esteban Trueba, the ruthless patriarch of the Trueba family, while Nicole plays Clara del Valle, Esteban's clairvoyant and telekinetic wife. They're joined by Dolores Fonzi, who also portrays Clara in a different stage of her life, 'El Señor de los Cielos''s alumni Fernanda Castillo as Férula Trueba, and Juan Pablo Raba as Uncle Marcos.

The cast also includes Aline Kuppenheim, Eduard Fernández, Fernanda Urrejola, Nicolás Francella, Antonia Zegers, Catalina Saavedra, Maribel Verdú, Pablo Macaya, Amparo Noguera, Nicolás Contreras, Sara Becker, Emilio Edwards, Rochi Hernández, Chiara Parravicini, Pedro Fontaine, and Noelia Coñuenao.

This adaptation boasts author Isabel Allende, an executive producer and actress and director Eva Longoria. This new adaptation commemorates 42 years since the novel's first publication, bringing back one of Latin America's most cherished novels to the screen. The eight-episode series is produced by FilmNation, known for producing the first American film to win the Palme d'Or in over a decade at Cannes with 'Anora' directed by Sean Baker and the Chilean production company Fábula.

The story revolves around family conflicts and tensions against a politically and socially tumultuous Chile spanning decades. Inspired by Gabriel García Márquez's magnum opus 'One Hundred Years of Solitude,' Allende originally wrote the book as a letter to her grandfather, who was nearing death.

Prime Video's adaptation is the second on-screen adaptation of The House of the Spirits. The first was a 1993 film written and directed by Billie August starring Jeremy Irons, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Winona Ryder, and Antonio Banderas.

Although the release date and major details about the series are still being revealed, filming has finished, and a 2025 premiere is expected.

The first images of Poncho and Nicole as the lead characters have stirred excitement on social media, captivating both long-time fans of the novel and new followers drawn to the story's mysticism and significance.
