Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos unveiled the company's first smartphone called Fire Phone. The device is smaller than leading Android smartphones but is larger than the iPhone. The device features a ton of new services like Mayday for live tech support and Firefly which is a scanning feature. Check out some of the awesome features below!
1. Amazon’s handset is powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and it features a 4.7-inch 720p HD display that Amazon says is bright enough to be visible in outdoor lighting. It also includes 2GB of RAM, dual stereo speakers, a 13-megapixel rear camera and front-facing camera for video chats.
2. The device sports a 13-megapixel camera with tiny electric motors that adjust the lens 100 times per second to counteract shaky hands. Amazon is also offering unlimited free storage on its Cloud Drive service for users multimedia.
3. Fire Phone sports a new feature called FireFly that's capable of scanning and recognizing different merchandise like books, DVDs and more as well as music and TV shows. Phone numbers and email addresses are also recognized by Firefly.
4. Another feature the Fire Phone has is something called Mayday service, which provides a direct line of communication to Amazon’s customer support team via video chat. Reps can help users diagnose and resolve any issues, and they can also take control of the phone to help, if need be.
5. The device will also be deeply intergrated with Amazon’s various Prime services, such as Prime Video and the newly revealed Amazon Music. And of course the device will also include dedicated Kindle software for eBooks.
The Amazon Fire Phone will start at $199.99 on contract with 32GB of storage, and a 64GB version will be available for $299.99 off contract the device will start out at $650. The handset will be available exclusively from AT&T and is slated to launch July 25.
