Amazon is rumored to be prepping a 3D smartphone! A recent report from the Wall Street Journal says the company wants to unveil a glasses-free 3D device this June. Rumors reveal the smartphone will be able to track a user's retinas by using four front-facing cameras that will create a 3D environment without the need for glasses.
With this new technology it is also said users of Amazon's 3D smartphone will be able to control their device using only their eyes according to the Wall Street Journal.
“The 3D screen technology can sense the movement of a person's eyes and whether the screen is moving closer to a user's face, according to people familiar with the matter. In response, the phone will be able to automatically zoom into images as it moves closer to a user's face and could manipulate text and images as a person moves the phone.”
Previous rumors have focused on the ecommerce aspect of the device but this new report focuses more on the features of the smartphone. Amazon is expected to order 600,000 units for it’s first batch of 3D handsets. The recent Wall Street Journal report added that production of the device is expected to begin at the end of April.
