Alyssa defended the two abortions she had in the 90s and the process, slammed Christianity as being only empowering to men. The actress claimed that the abortions gave her the life she is very happy with today.

In her “Sorry Not Sorry” podcast on Monday, the former “Charmed” actress shared something very few women would say out loud - that abortion changed their lives for the better. Milano held nothing back in defending her decision, starting with the admission that at the time of her two abortions, she simply “was not equipped to be a mother.”

The actress, 46, explained that the first baby she ended having aborted was a total accident. She was in a loving relationship then but not looking to get pregnant at all. She was taking birth control as a preventative measure. However, she was also taking Accutane, a strong acne medication that can lead to birth defects. She ended up becoming pregnant.

Becoming pregnant without being prepared to be made her feel devastated, especially since she was raised Catholic. It made her think she conflicted with her faith.

However, she eventually realized that she was being held back by a faith that she thought in essence, only empowering to “men to make every single decision about what was allowed and what was not allowed. I had a career and a future and potential. And also, I suffered from sometimes crippling anxiety.”

Milano chose to have an abortion. She highlighted that it was a personal choice and the right one for her. “It was not an easy choice. It was not something I wanted, but it was something that I needed, like most health care is,” she said. When she became pregnant again despite taking birth control pills, she decided to end that pregnancy.

Now, she is very confident about claiming her abortion decisions were right. Her quite “charmed” life today would not have happened if she pushed through with having a baby at a time she did not feel ready.

“I would not have my children, my beautiful, perfect, loving, kind and inquisitive children who have a mother who was so very, very ready for them,” she said. “I would not have my career. I would not have the ability or platform I use to fight against oppression with all my heart,” she said. Milano also claimed that she would not have known David, her husband now too.

More than anything, Milano believes this fight for abortion is one for upholding freedom.

This is not the first time Milano made a controversial statement. In May, she also called for women to withdrew sex for men until they have control of their own bodies back.
